2 Navy F/A-18 Hornets Have Collided Over The Pacific Ocean. One Pilot Missing


Two F/A-18 Hornets Crash In The Pacific Ocean -- Virginia Pilot

Two F/A-18 Hornets from Carrier Air Wing 17 aboard the carrier Carl Vinson crashed into the western Pacific Ocean this morning.

One of the pilots was quickly located, rescued and receiving medical attention aboard the carrier, according to a Navy news release. A search was underway for the second pilot.

The guided-missile cruiser Bunker Hill, guided-missile destroyer Gridley and helicopters assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 15 and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 73 were involved in the search.
