Reuters: North Korea meeting to stress importance of sanctions - Canada
VANCOUVER (Reuters) - A summit on curbing North Korea’s nuclear ambitions will focus in part on how to ensure countries fully implement all the sanctions imposed on the reclusive state, a Canadian government source said on Monday.
Senior officials from 20 nations will gather in Vancouver on Tuesday for the full-day meeting, which is designed to increase diplomatic and financial pressure on Pyongyang to scrap its nuclear programs. Canada and the United States are co-hosts.
The United Nations Security Council, which has already imposed a wide range of sanctions, last month approved new punitive measures seeking to limit Pyongyang’s access to refined petroleum products and crude oil and its earnings from workers abroad.

Russia calls everything destructive and bad..it's getting boring. Putin needs to decide. Stand with China (who -will- in a couple of decades come and grab your land and resources) or for once stand with Europe, the US, Canada, and pretty much all of APAC. Don't be stupid Russia. Your future is on the line. Do you really think with a shrinking and aging population you can fend of China? You've got less than 100 million people in 30 years and China will be at almost 2bn. And Russia has a GDP of Italy. ..common do the math. All the nukes in the world won't help you.

I think China is making a mistake in not attending.
James - China has its own agenda. And that agenda is arming north Korea. Haven't you seen what's going on? All the money, the military equipment, the protectionism. They want a strong north Korea. They are opposed to anything the test of the World wants. China is not part of the world. Their citizens follow other laws. Go to China to be treated like a second class citizen. Speak out against China to see their torture halls. Your French or whatever passport will not protect you. Check cnn for their torture and sleep deprivation halls. They'll also make these nice videos of you in which you have to apologise for saying anything against them. That's who we are dealing with. The world needs to finally wake up about what's happening here.
This is really sad. Putin is risking the future of Russia. His country cannot survive the hungry China. 2bn people ask looking to Russia's resources. They'll be technological superior. They'll have more money (they already to..their gdp is already 10x Russia's) They'll buy influence. They'll take over Russia. I'd bet on it. We may have had differences with Russia but that's not a future I'd want for anyone. Why this decades of animosity between Russia and the west? We're similar people. We respect Russians. Why are we keeping on fighting this cold war? We will miss them when they're gone for sure. Their music, poets, mathematicians. All gone because Putin just distrusted the west. Stupid kgb mentality. The west wants nothing but a peaceful Russia. Do you think we enjoy scrambling or fighter jets all the time when Russian bombers fly near our air space? Happens every week. Why? So stupid.

Yes, I am quite aware of China's history in this matter, thank you though for the reminder. My comment is addressed to that agenda. From China's standpoint they will find that not attending will have been a mistake, not on the order of the Soviet Unions absence from the UN Security Council meeting to discuss reaction to the original NK invasion, but a similar mistake for them none the less.
