5 U.S. Army Crewmen Missing After Black Hawk Helicopter Crashes Near Oahu

Honolulu Patch: Hawaii Army Helicopter Goes Down, Search Ongoing For 5 Crew Members

BREAKING: Officials at Wheeler Army Airfield around 10 p.m. Tuesday​ lost contact with the crew of a UH-60 Black Hawk, the Coast Guard said.

HONOLULU, HI — An Army helicopter training between Kaena Point and Oahu's Dillingham Airfield went down, and the U.S. Coast Guard and military crews are searching the ocean for five crew members, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials at Wheeler Army Airfield near Honolulu around 10 p.m. Tuesday lost contact with the crew of a UH-60 Black Hawk, the Coast Guard said in a release. Responding teams reported seeing debris about 2 miles west of Kaena Point just before 11:30 p.m.
